Why/how this specific technology was chosen?

According to the reference document on best available technology of waste incineration (Reference Document on the Best Available Techniques for Waste Incineration) developed by the European Commission, the burning of waste on the grate moving grating is considered the best available technology for burning solid waste (MSW).

The main advantages of the chosen technology:

  • incineration of waste, the calorific value of which is in a wide range (from 5 to 10 MJ / kg);
  • performance of the line can be from 1 to 50 tons / hour, the most common plant with a capacity of 5 to 30 tons / hour;
  • well-established technology, particularly at high powers;
  • low operating costs;
  • the possibility of recycling of various fractional composition (waste without pre-sorting);
  • high efficiency of combustion (carbon content in the slag is 0.5 to 3%);
  • the most economically viable technologies in terms of cost of one ton of waste disposal (especially for large capacity utilization)

In Europe, there are a large number of such enterprises for the production of energy from waste (WtE businesses), built in recent years and are currently under construction.
